Extracting the archive could be tricky - but you could use your desktop computer to help you with that.Welcome to the world of fast, private, device to device file syncing and sharing. This might sound a bit complicated but if you copy/paste from Ricardos instructions and only replace the version number - it is a snap and only takes a minute. Move files on drobo between accessible share and DroboApps or connect as Admin to directly access the DroboApps share (caution: do not mess around). remove backup folder if everything looks goodįor editing files / extracting btsync archive it could be easier to operate on a drobo share that is accessible from your computer.if necessary: recreate shares via btsync gui from notes taken in the beginning.if it is only a minor update: replace empty btsync/data folder with backuped one (that contains all the btsync share configurations).follow the instructions (more or less) on droboports for a fresh btsync installation (watch out: there is one file where the current version number should be used instead of the old one).move complete “btsync” directory to another existing drobo share (/mnt/DroboFS/Shares//btsync_old) for backup (that’s because if you keep the old btsync folder inside the “DroboApps” folder then Dashboard might get confused and display two installed instances).goto the btsync gui and write down a note with folder path and secret of each share (possibly the share keys are of no use when doing a major/incompatible update).Information about btsync shares is stored in the btsync/data directory. Use Ricardos instructions on to update btsync to the latest version that could be downloaded here: (Linux/ARM 1.3.94). There have been some incompatible Updates along the way of btsync and the current version should work. I guess it has to do when I log in to Bit Torrent Sync GUI, the username is admin and password is password, which means I am not really accessing the “Drobo” specific directory of which my person folder was created using the Drobo Dashboard.īut the GUI can only accept 32 characters ![]() Obviously if I can make the folder which I had created using the Drobo Dashboard and make that a Bit Torrent Sync folder, that would be problem solved… don’t know how to get to it. ![]() (I see the “Public” default folder that was enabled and the folder that I had created and given read/write permission). for example, the folder that I had created using the Drobo Dashboard, I can see under the Mac’s “shared” directory. Lastly, ultimately I’d like to view these photos through my Mac’s filing system. Let’s said it worked - can I then manage that folder/will that folder show up in the Bit Torrent GUI? do I need to have some admin privilege to the Drobo directory/file system? I am not a Linux person by any stretch of imagination except googling the commands on the internet. zoich/iphone/photos/Ĭan I do that? - I installed openssh (again thanks to Ricardo) and was able to SSH into drobo. However, I was hoping to create a directory/folder of my own naming instead of the ones that are pre-existing. (apology that I am spelling everything out, new to the app, didn’t want to miss a step) Then was on to selecting a folder and create a secrete to enable the sync. I got it installed last night (thanks to Ricardo’s post) and was able to access the gui via the browser. My colleague recommended the BT Sync app. One of the main functions I would like my Drobo to do is automatically (one way sync) from my iphone’s photo-library to Drobo. New to Drobo 5N (received from Amazon on Wed).
